It always has upset me that dance, the most spatial of arts, is captured in the web of time, music. The technology I most want to develop is the space to music transformer. This technology would use sensing elements to locate the static dancer's body in space, and also that of a partner. The final spatial measurements would reflect the spatial separation of the two dancers. As each moved, three relationships would change; each individual's to the stage and to each other. The space sensors would convert the calculus of movement as MIDI-like information and play a synthesizer in three part harmony. In so doing, dance would generate its own music, space would be reflected in time.
